dA Bestiary No 2 by Windy999 dA Bestiary No 2 by Windy999
This one is not meant for those who genually welcome new members but those who welcome the newbies for some alterior motive.

No 1 was received so well that I struck on with this one immediately (don't expect this output rate throughout the whole series) :D

It took me several goes to come up with this version - the others just didn't look menacing enough

You can see the whole list in my journal [link]

Daily Deviation

Given 2005-01-14
Every now and again, it pays to take a look in the mirror and laugh at yourself. The da Bestiary by *Windy999 is how we as an online society can do just that. dA Bestiary No 2 is one in a series of caricatures of ourselves. We'll be featuring one of them a day for the first sixteen in the series. ( Featured by dygel )

That should be "its own."

Yes, I know I just qualified myself as one of these.

Wow, thankfully I never encountered this guy... I can't even remember if anyone welcomed me to DA other than the friend who talked me into getting an account.

Oooh, I just love the little, trapdoor spider-like beasty hiding beneath that 'false welcome'
That little welcome is very cute though, It's certainly good bait for an unsuspecting newbie.

I know I've spotted these when they post the exact same message in about 20 threads in a minute.

Reading the series so far. Doing a really good job :D

Ok, I didn't read through the 200 comments on this because frankly, I didn't have the patience, so I don't know if this was already mentioned, but all I could think of when looking at this was Stephen King's "IT"

That is the trapdoor spider, correct? Great concept, by the way. I find it sad when people comment with only the intent of luring someone to look at their gallery. I find that is how most people use the general page comments feature.

Haha! Very cool. A couple of things, though (and I haven't read through all the comments, so maybe someone's already addressed this): when used as a possessive, "its" shouldn't have an apostrophe (you do this twice in the first sentence). Also, I rarely see "phony" spelled with an E, but that might just be a usage thing. >.>

Anyway, I'm going to continue reading these, and if I see one that really sounds like me, I'll favorite it. (If one of them is OCD Grammar Freak, it's a shoo-in. :P )

Anyways, excellent XD I see lotsa of these all the time; I welcome new members every so often, but this thought really never crossed my mind. It's unthinkable, using new members...><

I stopped hanging around welcome forums a long time ago after meeting this type on some RP boards, but I definitely recognize the type. The spider-crab theme could NOT be more apropriate.

Heh, I've seen this in action. I started up a club here on the site, and not that same day after I got the club journals all up, someone stopped by and "welcomed" me to DeviantArt, despite how both me and my friend who's co-admin-ing the club have both been on DA for a while now. I've seen this guy around before too. Come on, maybe these people should bother caring about the newbies instead of trying to make fanboys/girls out of 'em. Sheesh. :|

Anyway, nice work. Now, if you could only make a pesticide to kill this type of DA monster...:plotting:

I love it! I sometimes go to the forum page and give a welsome message to newbies, but I do it genuinely, and many times offer to help with anything, and as well check out their gallery, and maybe even :+devwatch: them, too.

You know, I was so miffed at how some deviants could be around for months and no know how to post and icon or what features are fir subscriber and what are for normal members and stuff like that, so I posted a "you can ask me if you have any questions" on some new deviants' pages. A couple of them put me on their watch or thanked me, but no one actually asked me a question.

So I quit doing it.
